My crew was working on a house built in the 90s and the owner said 'we never even thought about the AC unit's shade'.
It was a huge, old unit just baking in the sun all day, and he mentioned they just accepted the high bills. We ended up building a simple lattice shade a few feet away, and he texted me later saying his next bill was noticeably lower. How many other simple, old-school fixes like that are we all just overlooking now?

It's like @hayes.tara said, we overthink it. My grandma's place had the same thing with her old fridge. It was shoved right next to the oven, and it ran nonstop. We just pulled it out a few inches for some air, and it quieted right down. Those old appliances just need a little common sense, not a fancy fix.

Yeah, my dad did that with his old unit. Just some basic plywood on posts, made a real difference. It's wild how we overcomplicate stuff sometimes.
