I finally saw the trash problem at my local park in a new way

I was walking my dog at Riverside Park last Saturday and saw a volunteer group cleaning up, but they were just putting everything into regular black bags. I asked the leader, a woman named Sarah, and she said they have to sort it all again later because the city doesn't pick up mixed recycling from the park. Has anyone else run into this kind of double-work with local cleanups, and is there a better way to set it up?

Bring separate clear bags for recycling right from the start. It cuts the extra step and makes the city pickup way easier.

Hang on, if everyone does clear bags then people can see what you're tossing and that's gonna be a whole new wave of people judging your recycling habits. Like imagine your neighbor side-eyeing you for throwing out a pizza box with a little grease stain on it. Plus the city workers might start picking and choosing what they want to actually take based on what they can see, which defeats the whole purpose.

Seems like overkill, @price.tyler.
