Hot take: I used to think community solar was a scam, but now I'm a believer

Last year I signed up for a community solar program in my town of Burlington, Vermont. I was super skeptical because it felt like one of those too-good-to-be-true deals where you save money without doing anything. But after 12 months on it, my electric bill dropped by 15% and I didn't have to install any panels myself. Has anyone else had luck with these programs or still think they're shady?

Whoa, hold on, wait a minute. You're telling me you actually saved 15% after just one year? That is wild because I've heard so many horror stories about these programs where people end up paying more than their regular utility bill. I looked into one in my area a couple years back and the fine print made it sound like you were basically signing up to pay a subscription fee that could change any time. Your experience is making me rethink that, but I'm still real skeptical until I see it with my own electric meter.
