Dropped $480 on a used e-bike to cut my car trips, and the battery died in 6 weeks
I bought a beat up RadPower off a guy on Craigslist for $480, thinking I'd save gas and do my part for the planet on my 4 mile commute. The first three weeks were great, I did maybe 60 miles and felt smug about not burning gas. Then the battery started cutting out on hills, and by week six it wouldn't hold a charge past 2 miles. Turns out a replacement battery runs about $400, which is basically what I paid for the whole bike. Now it's sitting in my garage and I'm driving again, so did I just waste $480 trying to be green?
