Update: the guy at the storage lot in Fresno told me to pull my battery and I ignored him for 8 months
So back in January I rented a unit at a place off Shaw Ave for my 1966 Mustang, and the older guy running the office told me straight up, pull the battery and put it on a tender or you'll be buying a new one. I nodded and then never did it, mostly because the car was buried behind boxes and I got lazy. Last week I went to move it and the battery was dead flat plus there was a little crust of corrosion on the tray, and now I'm out about $180 for a new battery and I feel like an idiot. Here's my debate though: the other side is my buddy who says leaving the battery in and just unhooking the negative cable is totally fine and tenders are overkill for a car that only sits a few months at a time. I kind of want to believe him because pulling the battery every fall is a pain, but the evidence in my own garage says otherwise. So who's right here, do you actually pull the battery for winter storage or just disconnect it and call it a day? And does anyone have a tender setup that doesn't involve me crawling under a cover with a flashlight?
