Took me 3 weekends to figure out a moisture problem in my storage shed

I kept finding rust on my chrome parts inside a sealed storage unit in Phoenix. Turns out the concrete floor was wicking up ground moisture. I laid down a vapor barrier and a cheap dehumidifier fixed it in 2 days.

Used to be one of those people who rolled their eyes at vapor barriers. Thought they were overkill for a dry climate like Arizona. Then I found a pair of old leather boots in my own storage unit that had grown a nice coat of white mold on the soles. Changed my mind real quick after that. Now I tell anyone with a concrete slab to just put down the plastic sheeting and save yourself the headache.

You ever spend three weekends on something that could've been fixed with a ten dollar tarp and a trip to the hardware store? I spent a whole summer chasing a musty smell in my garage before I realized my watering can was slowly leaking onto a stack of old newspapers. Felt like a real genius when I found that one.

Bet you felt real smart after that one, Paul.
