Kept my grandad's car on bare concrete for 2 years, finally put down rubber mats and the floor stayed dry
I always figured those interlocking rubber mats were a gimmick the catalogs tacked onto every order, so I left my 66 Falcon sitting right on the bare slab in my garage outside Dayton. Two winters of that and I had little damp spots creeping up under the tires and a musty smell every spring. Last October I finally spent $38 on a 4 pack of the mats and rolled them under all four wheels, and when I pulled the car out in March the concrete underneath was dry as a bone. Guess the slab was sweating and pulling moisture up into the tires the whole time. Anyone else run mats and notice a real difference, or did I just get lucky with a dry winter?
