I saw a 1965 Mustang get ruined by moisture trapped under a cover in just 8 months.
Read a case study from a guy in Florida who pulled his cover off and found mold eating through the paint where the condensation pooled, and it made me rethink using any breathable cover without a dehumidifier underneath, has anyone else seen this happen with a specific car model?

That Florida case study gets passed around a lot, but I've seen cars under tarps in junkyards for years that still had paint intact. The real issue is usually the surface temp, not the cover itself. A hot car under a cover in humid air is a recipe for condensation, sure, but 8 months seems fast for that kind of ruin. @jade_hernandez is right that it's an extreme case, but I'd bet the guy either had a leak in his garage or the cover was just a cheap plastic tarp that didn't breathe at all. Mold eating through paint sounds more like a pre-existing clearcoat failure or a bird dropping that sat for months. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I've seen way more cars destroyed by direct sun and tree sap than by a breathable cover. People love to blame the gear instead of the conditions.

Moisture damage is always a risk but that sounds like an extreme case more than the norm.
