Battery tender debate got heated at the cars and coffee meetup
Guy at the meetup last Sunday swore leaving his '67 Mustang on a trickle charger year round ruined his battery, claimed it cooked it dry by August. I've kept mine plugged in through three Michigan winters at $40 a pop for a new tender and never had a problem, but he was adamant. Is there a real difference between leaving it connected vs only charging when it dips, or is this just old timer lore?

A cheap trickle charger that never shuts off will boil a battery dry over months, so the old timer wasn't crazy, he just had junk gear. A proper tender senses voltage and cuts out, which is why yours has been fine through three winters while his cooked by August. Leave a good one hooked up and check the water level on a flooded battery once a month, that's the whole trick.
