Barn space vs. a rented garage 20 minutes away for my 66 Mustang, and I went with the barn
When my granddad passed last spring I had to figure out where to put my 66 Mustang fastback, and I had two options. The old barn on the family place in Lexington is free but it's dirt floor with a leaky roof, or I could rent a spot at a climate controlled place 20 minutes out for $140 a month. I went with the barn to save the cash and figured a car cover and some traps would be enough. Six months in, I've got a musty smell in the trunk I can't get rid of and a fender that picked up surface rust from the damp. Part of me still thinks the barn was the right call but I'm second guessing the dirt floor big time. Anyone run a car on dirt for years and find a trick to keep the moisture down, or did I just cost myself a paint job?
