Spent $150 on a HEPA vacuum attachment for my brushes and it's a game changer

I got tired of dust clouds in my truck between jobs so I picked up a Dustless Brush adapter for my shop vac. It fits my 2.5 inch hose and pulls all the soot straight off my rods. Anybody else use one of these or just stick to tarps?

I saw a review from a drywaller who tested one of these with a particle counter, and it caught over 99% of the dust down to 0.3 microns. That’s way better than any tarp setup where the fine stuff just settles into your lungs. Sounds like a solid investment for $150 if you can keep it from clogging up on really heavy soot jobs.

My Dirt Devil pancake vac (bought it at a garage sale for 12 bucks) clogs up after about 10 seconds of cleaning my chimney brushes. I tried using a Dustless adapter once and the fine soot just packed the filter solid in under a minute. Tarps might let some particles float around but at least they don't stop your vacuum dead in its tracks when you're on a job site with no backup. That 99% claim only works if the thing doesn't choke on the first scoop.

Tarps just trap the mess, not the fine particles you end up breathing in. The shop vac route sounds way more practical for actual cleanup.
