Old timer told me to never cheap out on brush rods, should've listened
Back in 2018 a retired sweep in Buffalo warned me that the $40 fiberglass rods would snap on a bad creosote build-up and sure enough, I was 30 feet up a flue last month when one broke and sent my brush clattering down, has anyone else had a cheap rod give out at the worst possible moment?

Dad's old saying was "buy cheap, buy twice," but he also snapped a rod mid-flue in 1987 and blamed the chimney for years.
