I finally saw a squirrel nest in a chimney flue last week in Boise.
It was a brick chimney on a 1920s house, and the nest was blocking about a third of the opening. I realized my usual visual check from the bottom wasn't enough for that kind of buildup. Do you guys use a specific camera or mirror tool for a full top-down view before starting a clean?

I had that exact problem and ended up using a cheap inspection camera on a flexible rod. It lets you see the whole flue condition clearly before you even get the ladder out. That visual confirmation saves a lot of guesswork.

What kind of camera did you go with? I've seen some that connect right to your phone, and the picture quality is surprisingly good for the price. You can even record a video to show a contractor exactly what you're seeing up there.
