Had a 30-year-old clay liner completely collapse in a Cleveland job last week. Debating if we should have pushed harder for a camera inspection first.

That collapse is a perfect example of why we always push for the camera now. We had a similar failure on a 25 year old line in Akron, cost the client triple in emergency repairs. The upfront inspection fee is nothing compared to that.

Ugh, tell me about it. @noahclark is right, I learned that lesson the hard way too after skipping an inspection to save a few bucks. The repair bill made that choice look really stupid. Now I just factor the camera cost into every job like a sanity tax.

It's like @the_kim said, that sanity tax idea shows up everywhere. People skip the cheap oil change, then need a whole new engine. Or they don't buy the rental car insurance to save twenty bucks, and get stuck with a huge bill for a tiny scratch.
