Found a cheap trick for clearing creosote buildup fast
I tried using a shop vac with a special adapter for a 6 inch brush head last week and it saved me 2 hours on a single job. Has anyone else rigged up a vacuum for this or is it a dumb idea?

Hold up, a modified paint sprayer? Like you're just hosing the inside of the flue with thinner? That sounds like a fast track to a chimney fire if you don't get every last bit out. I'd be terrified of leaving a thin film of that stuff in there to bake on even harder.

Whoa, that's clever. I've been using a modified paint sprayer with a thinner tip to blast the stuff off before it gets too thick, works way better than scraping. You tried that at all?
