Switched from street parking to a spot in a garage last winter

I paid $175 a month for a heated garage spot in Lakeview instead of dealing with the street. No more digging my car out at 6 AM or worrying about the overnight snow ban. Has anyone else made the switch and found it worth the extra cash?

I read somewhere that snow removal costs in Chicago add up to about $700 a season if you factor in damaged bumpers and lost time. "No more digging my car out at 6 AM" is the part that hits home for me, that alone is worth the $175 a month when you're not freezing your fingers off. Plus you don't have to stress about getting ticketed during the overnight ban, which happens way more than people think.

$700 seems high unless you're counting like a bumper replacement every year. I get the appeal but I'd rather just move my car at 7 PM and be done with it than pay that much monthly.
