Question about the 5 PM Red Line shakeup, is it just me or worse now?

I rode the Red Line at 5 PM last Tuesday from Fullerton to Roosevelt and it took 38 minutes, but the app said 22. The trains felt packed way earlier than before the schedule change, so did the reroute actually make things worse for anyone else, or did I just hit a bad day?

The 5:42 train I caught last Thursday from Fullerton was already standing room only by the time we hit Belmont, which never happened before the change. My usual trick is to walk to the front of the platform where the last car ends up, since the middle cars fill up first and the back stays looser until Addison. Also, the app's time estimates are garbage now, they don't account for the extra wait at Clark/Lake from the reroute, so add 5-7 minutes to whatever it says. That 38 minute ride sounds about right if you hit the tail end of the 5 PM rush, but I've had two days where it was back to 24 minutes, so it's hit or miss. Have you tried the Purple Line express during that window? It skips a few stops and usually gets me to Roosevelt in closer to 28.
