Overheard my neighbor say lakefront property is overrated and I kinda see his point

He said paying $600k for a place in Edgewater just to deal with lake-effect snow and tourist crowds in summer is a waste, but then I think about those sunset walks on the beach and wonder if he's just bitter he can't afford it, what do you guys think - is the lakefront actually worth the premium or not?

Wait, people are really paying $600k to freeze their faces off and fight for parking at Put-in-Bay?

Ray must be talking about one of those lakefront places on the west side... have you seen the pictures of the ice buildup on those docks in January? Looks like something out of a horror movie. But seriously, is the appeal just having a summer house that's close to the wineries and the ferry? Because I can think of way cheaper ways to get drunk on Catawba wine without owning a whole second mortgage.
