My neighbor in Logan Square made me rethink how I shovel

Honestly, I've been snow shoveling wrong my whole life. Last week, my neighbor Gene from the 2nd floor watched me clear my walk and said I was 'pushing the storm instead of lifting it'. He showed me how to angle the shovel and lift in shorter scoops, and my back didn't hurt for the first time after a 8 inch dump. Has anyone else had a basic chore habit corrected by a stranger or neighbor? What did they say that clicked for you?
