Found a way to keep my radiator from clanking at night after 2 years of sleep loss

I live in an old Logan Square walkup and last month I finally tried bleeding the air out of the pipes with a simple key from Ace Hardware. Has anyone else dealt with those loud bangs that wake you up at 3 AM?

Bought myself a whole two years of alarm clock bangs for free, what a deal.

Wait, you went through TWO YEARS of those banging noises before you tried bleeding the air? That is wild to me. I have a similar setup in an old building and the first time my radiator clanked I was on YouTube within an hour looking up solutions. I get that it's easy to put stuff off, but two years of lost sleep sounds like actual torture. That little key really is a game changer though, for something so simple it fixes so much noise. Now I have a weird habit of checking the pressure every couple months just to be safe. Glad you finally got some peace and quiet, bet you feel like a new person.
