Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to fix a broken immersion circulator

I spent 4 hours last Saturday trying to get my Anova circulator to stop throwing error codes after it got clogged with calcium buildup. Turned out soaking the heating coil in vinegar for 15 minutes fixed it, but I wasted half my prep time on google searches. Anyone else ever have a simple fix take way longer than it should have?

Yeah, I used to just chuck it in the drawer and buy a new one, but this actually makes me rethink that.

But why would you wanna do all that work when you can just toss it and grab a fresh one for like 20 bucks? I get the whole save the planet thing, but my time is worth more than messing with tiny screws and hoping I don't fry the thing. Plus, half the time those replacement batteries are knockoffs that die in 3 months anyway. You're basically signing up for a hobby, not fixing a charger.

Soak the heating element in hot vinegar next time, works fast.
