That time I found out my fry oil temp was off by 15 degrees for months
So I was cleaning out the kitchen last week and found an old thermometer gun in the back of a drawer. Decided to check my fryer since the fries had been coming out weird lately. Turns out the built in thermostat was reading 350 but the actual oil was at 335. I had been cooking everything at the wrong temp for at least 3 months without realizing it. That explains why my chicken wings were greasier than usual and the onion rings never got that crunch. Has anyone else had equipment lie to them like that and mess up their whole line?

Started calibrating my thermometers on a set schedule after a similar issue with my oven being off by 25 degrees for half a year. One of those little things that can really mess with your results without you noticing.

The bigger pattern is just how much stuff in life is secretly broken but still kinda works. Like my bathroom scale that says I'm 5 pounds lighter than I actually am, been riding that lie for 2 years now.
