PSA: A seized walk-in cooler fan motor ate 9 hours of my Tuesday and I'm still salty
Walked into the kitchen Tuesday at 6am and the walk-in was sitting at 58 degrees, so I figured it was just the thermostat and swapped it in 20 minutes. Wrong call. Turned out the condenser fan motor had seized, which tripped the high pressure switch, and tracing that took me through three breaker resets and a borrowed multimeter from the bar next door. The part was $140 and in stock at a supply house in Cicero, but I burned the rest of the day getting the old motor off a rusted bracket and recharging the system. Nine hours for a job I quoted as two, and I lost a full prep day for Friday service. Any of you keep a spare condenser fan motor on the shelf, or am I crazy for thinking that's worth the $200 just sitting there?
