The gas station sushi I bought on a whim Tuesday ended my lunch budget for the week
I stopped at the Shell on Main Street around noon because I forgot my packed lunch. The sushi box was $4.99 and looked okay, so I grabbed one. By 2 pm I was sick in the bathroom and missed the rest of my shift. That $5 gamble cost me about $40 in lost wages and a whole day of feeling awful. Has anyone else had a cheap lunch turn into an expensive mistake like that?

Gas station sushi is a gamble even when the refrigerated case looks clean. The problem is they have to keep it cold enough, but the turnover rate is slow so it sits there for hours. Spent $6 on a convenience store spicy tuna roll once, threw up by 3pm, missed an evening shift. Lost about $50 in wages that day. The cheap option never saves you in the long run.

Used to think people were overreacting about gas station sushi until I grabbed a $5 California roll from a 7-Eleven on a road trip and spent the next six hours regretting every single life choice I'd ever made (and not just the sushi one).
