The $5 rotisserie chicken at my local grocery turned out to be a trap I keep falling for
I grabbed one of those $4.99 hot rotisserie chickens from the grocery store on 8th last Tuesday planning to stretch it into three meals, but it was so dried out and salty that I ended up tossing half of it into the trash. I did the math and that was basically $2.50 wasted, which stings when I was counting on it for cheap protein all week. Has this happened to anyone else, and is there a specific store or time of day when those birds are actually still juicy?
My buddy Marcus hit the exact same wall at the Food Lion on 5th around 8pm on a Sunday. He thought he scored big with two birds for ten bucks, got them home, and the meat was so dry it crumbled like sand. He tried drowning it in bbq sauce and still gave up halfway through. Turns out they'd been sitting under that heat lamp since like 4 in the afternoon. He started going right when they open in the morning now and says the difference is night and day, still hot and juicy instead of jerky.
