Switched from meal kit deliveries to the produce auction near me and saved $60 a week

I used to order those meal kits for convenience, but after my third week I realized I was paying $80 for ingredients I could get for $20 at the Lancaster County produce auction. It’s a little out of the way off Route 30, but you show up at 7am on a Tuesday and walk out with a whole crate of peppers for $8. Anyone else have a weird spot like that where you just show up and pay cash?

The Lancaster produce auction sounds amazing, I've heard good things about the deals there. My weird spot is this tiny Amish bulk foods store in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, that has a back room full of giant bags of spices for like $3 each. One time I bought a 5 pound bag of cinnamon and it lasted me two years (I still have half of it). You have to bring cash and know the hours are weird, like Tuesday afternoons only or something. It's totally worth the drive though, I save a ton on vanilla extract and paprika compared to the grocery store. You just have to be okay with the fact that there's no sign out front and the place is basically someone's garage.

@the_jana that Amish bulk place sounds like a real find. It seems like the older I get, the more I realize the best deals are the ones you have to drive a little and bring cash to, not the ones advertised online.
