Picked the $2 day-old bakery bag over the $6 produce box and got way more food

Last Tuesday I stopped at the Grocery Outlet on MLK and had to choose between a $2 day-old bakery bag and a $6 produce box. I grabbed the bakery bag and ended up with 9 items, including a full loaf of sourdough and 4 cinnamon rolls. The produce box I saw someone else grab was mostly bruised apples and wilting kale. Has anyone else tried those day-old bags, and do you find them worth it or hit or miss depending on the store?
