Heard a dad at the grocery store tell his kid to check the markdown bin first

I was grabbing a few things at the Kroger on Broadway last Thursday and overheard a dad explaining to his maybe 8 year old that the markdown bin at the back of the meat section is where they put stuff that's close to the sell by date. He said you can usually get chicken or ground beef for like 40% off if you cook it that night or freeze it right away. I never really bothered to look back there before, but now I check it every trip and I've saved maybe $12 a week just on meat. Anyone else have a go to spot in their store for clearance finds?

Check the markdown bread rack, I snag bagels for 99 cents all the time.

Quality meat costs more for a reason. You get what you pay for.
