Figured out I was buying the wrong rice all along at H Mart

I used to grab the cheapest 10 pound bag of jasmine rice at the regular grocery store, like $8 for a bag that cooks up weird and mushy. Last month I was at H Mart in Annandale and saw a Korean lady checking expiration dates on rice bags, not just grabbing any. She told me to look for the Shinil brand medium grain, it's $12 for 15 pounds but it fluffs perfect every time and I don't get that gummy texture anymore. Has anyone else had a random stranger at an Asian market save them from bad rice choices?

$12 for rice that I eat all the time, not that serious.

I mean, $12 adds up fast when you eat it every single day though.

Is a few bucks really worth worrying about though?
