Thought I was saving money with a 240V outlet install, nope, cost me $450 extra
I hired a guy off Craigslist last month to put a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage for my Bolt. He ran the wire but used an indoor rated box and no GFCI, and the inspector in my town flagged the whole thing. I had to pay a real electrician $450 to redo it with the right parts, plus the first guy stopped answering my calls. The kicker is I could have just used the 120V cord for my daily 30 mile commute and been totally fine. Anyone else gotten burned trying to go cheap on home charging stuff?
