My neighbor's battery advice saved me $80 in charging fees
Last week my neighbor Dave saw me plugging into the paid Level 2 charger at our apartment complex and just shook his head. He told me the city library two blocks over has four free J1772 chargers that are usually empty after 6pm. I figured he was exaggerating since the library closes at 8, but I tried it Thursday night and yep, they were all open. Plugged in my Leaf for 3 hours while I walked the dog and grabbed groceries, came back with a full charge that would've cost me $25 at the complex rate. I've now used that spot four times this week and my electric bill for charging is already down to basically nothing. Has anyone else found hidden free chargers near paid ones, or is it just lucky to have a library that invested early? The only catch is they're 6.6kW so slower, but if you're not in a hurry it's totally worth the walk.
