Chat with a trucker about range anxiety changed my whole take on battery size

I was talking to a long-haul trucker at a rest stop near Bakersfield and he said he'd rather have a 400-mile range diesel tank than a 600-mile battery because of how fast he can fill up. It hit me different because I've been obsessing over max range, but he's right that charging speed and availability matter more for road trips. Has anyone else had a conversation that flipped their priority from range to charging infrastructure?

Man, that trucker hit the nail right on the head. I used to be all about chasing the biggest battery numbers too, but the reality is you're just trading one problem for another. A huge battery takes forever to charge, and if you can't find a working charger, that 400 miles of range might as well be 100. It's like having a monster fuel tank but no gas stations. The whole system breaks down if the infrastructure isn't solid. Fast, reliable charging spots are way more important than a bigger battery in my book.

Have you ever sat at a charging station waiting for 40 minutes when you're already running late? That's the real problem most people don't think about until they're stuck there. I do a lot of driving between Phoenix and Salt Lake City, and the difference between a 15 minute diesel stop and a 45 minute charge session is huge when you're trying to make good time. The trucker is right - you end up planning your whole trip around where the fast chargers are, not just how far the battery can go. Once you've actually dealt with a broken charger or a long line at a station, you realize range means nothing if you can't charge quickly when you need to.
