Charging at home used to mean hunting for a plug in the garage
Back in 2017 I was running an extension cord from the kitchen outlet to my Leaf, praying it wouldn't rain. Now I just plug into my Level 2 charger and walk away. You guys think plug-in hybrids made the transition easier or did they just delay people getting serious about EVs?

Oh man, plug-in hybrids are a mixed bag for sure. I heard a review on NPR a few months back that said most PHEV owners never actually plug them in, they just use them as regular gas cars. I think that defeats the whole purpose. But at the same time, my neighbor had a Volt for years and it convinced him to go full electric last year. So maybe they help some people dip their toes in, but they let others stay comfortable with gas too long.

My neighbor with a Volt actually used to call it his "half measure" because he only charged it like twice a month. It still took him 5 years to get a real EV though. I guess I can't judge, I've been a Prius owner for 10 years and still haven't made the jump myself.
