Battery guy at the dealership swore I'd lose range if I charged to 100% every night
My neighbor who works at the Chevy dealer kept telling me to only charge my Bolt to 80% unless I was going on a trip, but I figured he was just being paranoid about battery health. After 6 months of charging to 100% every night, my guess-o-meter dropped from 259 to 241 miles on a full charge. Has anyone else run into range loss from ignoring the 80% rule, or is my battery just a dud?

Yeah the "only charge to 80%" thing is REAL. I read a study from some battery testers that showed repeatedly charging to 100% wears out the cells FASTER because they're under more voltage stress. Your 18 mile loss sounds about right for 6 months of that. I used to ignore it too until I read that some Nissan Leaf owners lost like 20% range in two years by always topping off. Now I keep mine at 80% unless I know I need the extra miles the next day.

Ngl I learned this the hard way too. My battery dropped way faster until I started stopping at 80%.
