TIL someone told me my cat memes were too "noisy" and now I halved the text and doubled the blank space

I used to cram like 3 jokes and 4 different fonts into every cat meme I made. Then some rando on here said it looked like a popup ad from 2005 lol. I was mad at first but then I tried their advice. Made a meme with just one line of text and a cat looking confused. It got way more upvotes than my usual stuff. So now I'm stuck between keeping it simple for the algorithm or going back to my chaotic style that I actually enjoy making. What do yall think, does minimal really win or is it just a trend?

Is it really that deep though? Like, are we out here optimizing cat memes like they're some kind of business strategy now? I get that more upvotes feels good, but if you actually liked making the chaotic ones, why stop? The internet changes its mind every three weeks anyway.

Does it really come down to picking between doing what the algorithm likes and what brings you joy though? I can relate because my own cat memes used to look like a ransom note from a colorblind cartoonist until someone basically told me the same thing. So I cleaned them up and got more likes, but making them felt about as fun as watching paint dry on a Sunday afternoon.
