Talked to a shelter volunteer about cat memes and it hit me different

She said most viral cat memes show stressed cats, not happy ones, and now I can't unsee it. Do you guys think about the cat's mood when you make a meme, or is it just about the laugh?

Damn that actually hit me too. I've been noticing it since some random post pointed out how many memes are literally just cats being scared or uncomfortable and we all just laugh. Like that one with the cat's eyes wide open in the car, that's a stressed out animal not a funny prop. I try to think about it now but honestly half the time I just scroll and share without thinking. Kinda sucks to realize we've been making jokes at the expense of creatures that can't tell us to stop. Makes me want to be more careful about what I share honestly.

Do you think it's the same kind of thing when people laugh at those clips of cats "acting crazy" or do you figure those ones are actually just playing around?
