My friend said crop your cat memes tight not loose
I was making this meme of my cat sitting in a laundry basket and left tons of background around it. He told me to cut it tight to the cat's face and it pops way more now. Anyone else notice less dead space makes the joke land faster?

Wait 47 seconds of dead space in a meme? That's like watching a movie trailer with 20 seconds of black screen before the action starts.

Almost a minute of dead space" yeah that's basically a meme crime right there. Your friend was SPOT on about cropping tight. I've noticed the same thing with my own cat memes - when I leave too much empty background it's like the joke has to climb over invisible hurdles to get to the punchline. Cutting it right to the face or the main action makes it hit INSTANTLY, almost like a reflex.
