Update: I bought a $300 "carpet stretcher" off Marketplace and it was junk, cost me a whole day on a job in Fort Worth
Saw a carpet stretcher listed for $300 on Marketplace about a year back and thought I was getting a deal, since new ones run $600 or more. Drove out to a storage unit in Fort Worth to grab it, guy said he used it for 10 years and it still worked great. Got it back to the shop and the head was so worn that it kept slipping off the tack strip every few feet. I burned almost 6 hours on a 3 room job trying to fight with it, and the homeowner kept walking by asking why it was taking so long. Ended up running to my truck for my old beat up one just to finish before dark, and I never touched the new one again. Tried to resell it myself and couldn't even get $75 for it, so now it just sits in the corner collecting dust. Anyone else get burned on used gear from Marketplace, or is it just me being cheap?
