That job in Phoenix with the 1,200 square foot glue-down over concrete that was 15 degrees out of level...
We spent three full days just grinding and patching before we could even think about rolling out the carpet, and I'm curious if anyone has a better method for tackling that kind of severe slope without losing your mind.

We used a 7-inch grinder with a diamond cup wheel, and I swear I still see the dust in my dreams. My method was basically to create a bunch of tiny flat plateaus and then fill the canyons in between. It felt like I was building a topographical map more than a floor.

Man, that sounds brutal. Honestly, for a slope that bad, grinding and patching might be the only real fix to get it flat. Tried using a self-leveling compound first on a job once, but you'd need a truckload of it for that much slope and it gets crazy expensive. What kind of patch mix did you end up using?

Oh man, that dust is the worst. So for patching did you go with something like a fast-set patch or did you use something with a bit more working time? I'm always second-guessing my mix choices on big slopes like that.
