Tack strip choice bit me on a big hallway job in Denver
I went with the cheap 5/8 inch tack strip instead of the 1/2 inch with the wider pins because it was on sale at the supply house. Ended up with three popped seams by the time the homeowner walked it that evening, had to rip up 40 feet and redo it with the better stuff. Anyone else stick with the regular pin spacing and regret it, or do you always pay extra for the heavier gauge?

Those wide pin strips are worth every penny on any run longer than 20 feet, especially in a hallway where everyone's walking heel first. Learned that lesson the hard way on a rental unit years back, never went back to the cheap stuff.
