Serious question, did I waste $400 on a used power stretcher or does it just need a new belt?
Picked up a used Roberts power stretcher off a guy in Garland for $400 about six months ago. It ran great until last Tuesday when it started slipping on a 60 yard stretch of berber and I had to finish the last 20 feet by hand. Turned out the drive belt was glazed and the tensioner bolt was loose, so a $22 belt and ten minutes of wrenching got it running again. Now I keep a spare belt in the truck, but I'm wondering if I should have just paid more for a newer unit. Has anyone else had a used one hold up long term or am I waiting for the motor to quit next?
