Learned the hard way why you don't stretch gluedown carpet too tight
I was doing a 15x20 office in a strip mall near Tulsa last Tuesday. Got the carpet laid in, stretched it nice and tight like I always do with pad jobs. Within 2 hours the seams started lifting at the edges because the glue couldn't hold the tension. Had to rip out half the room and redo it with a power stretcher set way looser. Anyone else have that moment where you realize the same rules don't apply to different install methods?

Stretched it nice and tight like I always do" - me too, buddy. Did the exact same thing on a hallway last month and spent my afternoon peeling up carpet like a bad sunburn.

I get your point but I think a tight stretch keeps the wrinkles out long term.
