Had my Kemper power stretcher snap the handle right in the middle of a 40-yard living room job yesterday

It was an older model I've had for 8 years but still, that thing shouldnt break like that, I had to finish the whole room with a knee kicker and my back is wrecked today, anyone else had a stretcher fail on them like that?

Kemper probably made that handle out of the same plastic they use in Happy Meal toys. Eight years is like dog years for carpet tools, not bad but still a bummer when you're stuck crawling across a living room like a wounded beetle. Your back is going to remind you of that knee kicker for a week. At least you didn't snap it on the first stretch of a mansion.

Oh man, your post makes me think of my buddy Dave. He had a similar carpet stretcher from the same brand and he was trying to do a big room in his rental. Snapped it right in half on the second row of carpet, and @nina_sullivan61 is dead on about that plastic being cheap. He spent the rest of the day using a pry bar and his knee, looked like a total fool.
