Had a seam split on a big job in Dallas yesterday

It was a 20 foot stretch in a main hallway, and the seam tape just gave out after we walked on it. We had to pull up the whole section, clean the backing, and re-stretch with new tape. Anyone have a favorite brand of seam tape that holds up under heavy traffic?

What kind of carpet backing are we talking about here, because that changes everything. Some tapes just don't stick well to certain backings no matter how good they are. Also, did you use a seaming iron or just rely on the adhesive from the tape itself?

Had the same issue with a synthetic backing last year. Nathan289 is right about the backing type, but a good seaming iron made all the difference for me. The heat really activates the adhesive properly.
