Found out the average carpet gets replaced every 7 years, and I think that number is total garbage
Read a stat from a flooring report at work in Columbus that said most residential carpet only lasts about 7 years before people rip it out. I laughed because I've pulled up 20 year old carpet in rentals that was still holding up fine, it just looked ugly from dirt and traffic. The real killer isn't wear, it's people wanting a new color or selling the house. So is that 7 year number just marketing to sell more carpet, or are folks really ripping out perfectly good floors that fast?
