Finally stopped wrestling with seam tape the hard way
Used to be I'd stretch seam tape by hand, trying to get it straight while keeping tension. Always ended up with wrinkles or gaps that I'd have to fight later. Then about 6 months ago at a job in Phoenix, an old timer watched me struggle for a minute and handed me a tape gun. He just said 'let the tool do the work.' I bought one that same day for like 40 bucks. Now I just run it down the seam, pull the trigger, and it lays perfect every time. Cuts my seaming time in half easy. Has anyone else had a simple tool fix like that just change how you work?

Oh I read somewhere that seam tape guns were originally designed for carpet installation, not tent or awning work. Does that match what you've seen? I picked up a used one at a garage sale for like 5 bucks and it was filthy, but after cleaning it up, it's been a lifesaver for my weekend DIY projects in the garage. The trigger mechanism on mine is a little sticky sometimes though, maybe I need to oil it.

Ngl that's a steal for five bucks, sticky trigger and all.
