Finally got my seam lines to disappear on a tricky Berber job

For ages, my seams on loop pile carpets were always a little visible, especially under light from a big window. I switched from my old 3/4-inch knife to a 1-inch hook blade and started heating the seam tape for a full 30 seconds before pressing down. What's your go-to trick for invisible seams on a dense, low-pile carpet?

Oh man, the hook blade switch is a game changer, right? I had the same issue with light hitting it just wrong... My trick is using a seam roller right after the iron, but I go over it twice, once hot and once after it's cooled a bit. That extra pass seems to really melt those fibers together.

Totally feel you on that, @holly_williams. I messed up a whole panel last week because the light made the seam look fine when it wasn't. Your roller trick sounds smart, doing it hot and cold. I might try that next time with a bit of steam on the first pass.

Wait you messed up a whole panel? That's brutal lol. I'd be so mad at myself. What was it, like a big section on a jacket or something? I can just picture the seam puckering up after it cooled down. That light thing is such a trap.
