Am I the only one who lost a full day to a carpet seam that kept peaking on a stairs landing?
Spent almost 7 hours last Tuesday on a 4 step landing in Fresno because the seam kept peaking right at the nosing, and I burned through 3 seam irons trying to get it flat. Turns out the pad was double layered under one side and I never checked it because the old carpet came up so clean. Wish I had run a straightedge across the pad before I cut anything. What do you all use to check for low spots on stairs before you lay down the new goods?
