The $30 laser level I dismissed saved my crown molding job
Picked up a cheap laser level on clearance last spring. Thought it would be junk, figured I'd use it once. Ended up on a 14 foot run of crown molding in Tulsa last week. That thing got my angles dead on the first try, no chalk lines, no helper holding tape. I wasted so many hours over 12 years fighting with manual leveling. Anyone else sleep on a cheap tool that turned out way better than expected?

My father-in-law gave me a Bosch unit back in 97 and I treated it like a museum piece, only pulled it out for the big jobs. Turns out the cheap ones have gotten so much better that the expensive brand name stuff isn't worth triple the price unless you need it every single day outdoors. The real hidden benefit nobody talks about is how it saves your back, you stop bending over to check the bubble on a 6 foot level for every little section. I finally threw out my old torpedo level last spring after doing a whole kitchen with that clearance special and getting every upper cabinet line perfect.
