Question about an old timer's comment on my dovetails

He said my tails were 'proud enough to hold a quarter' back in '09, so I started cutting them flush. Anyone else get a piece of advice that stuck for years?

Guess that guy's still holding onto that quarter. Probably the last time he felt rich.

Seems like a pretty big leap from a single quarter to a whole life story. People hold onto change for a million reasons, not just because they're broke. Maybe it's a lucky coin, or from a specific year, or just got stuck in the couch. Reading that much into it feels like making a mountain out of a molehill.

i mean if you've ever actually tried to break a twenty for a five dollar pizza you know quarters are like gold sometimes. maybe it's not about being rich or poor, it's just practical to keep change around for parking meters or laundry or whatever. idk, people read way too much into stuff that's probably just convenience. maybe it's just me but I've got a jar of quarters in my car specifically because i got tired of scrambling for exact change at the toll booth. it's not that deep.
